Since the end of the classical SETI@home project Log9x is only available for download by request. Please use BoincLogX the successor of Log9x instead.
SETI@home-Log9x makes it possible to log detailed information about your processed WUs. It can be used with the GUI version or with the NT commandline version without any problems and supports infinite different clients with one instance. It also can collect the files "work_unit.sah", "state.sah" and "result.sah" by saving them with different numbers ("state0001.sah" up to "state9999.sah" etc).
Furthermore, Log9x can display some information about your current WU (Peak, Gaussian, Pulse, Triplet, CPU-Time, Time left).
Additionally to the "setilog.csv" it creates four more CSV files (spikelog.csv, gaussianlog.csv, pulselog.csv, tripletlog.csv) to log the interesting contents of the "result.sah".
You can use each software which supports CSV-files (comma separated value) to view the contents, but I recommend my SETI@home-MapView, which can show the results graphically.
When you first start SETI@home-Log9x it will open the setup and lets you make the following settings:
Seti directories: Here you can specify where your seti clients are installed. If you're using the GUI version, the right entry will already be in this list. If you're using the CLI version or want to add additional seti directories, click on "Add" and select the folder which contains your seti client.
Directory for log files: Here you'll have to select a folder where the log files (and if selected: the backup files) will be stored. You can select every folder you have, but I recommend creating a new empty directory for them (like "C:\SetiLogs"). Don't use one of your seti directories as the log directory!
Play sound file: Log9x can play a sound file when a WU is finished to inform you even if your monitor is turned off.
Monitoring interval: The monitoring interval is the time between two observations of the clients. For users with automatic dial-up-connection and automatically sending clients, a monitoring interval of 10 seconds is necessary and with a permanent connection an interval of less then three seconds is recommended to ensure that Log9x has enough time to copy the "result.sah".
Backup: Log9x can make backup copies of the most interesting files.
Additional options:
[autorun at startup] This will start Log9x automatically when you start up Windows. It's recommended to let this option turned on.
[close to tray] If this option is enabled, closing the monitoring display will only minimize Log9x into the tray instead of existing Log9x completely.
[colored tray notification] If enabled, Log9x will use a colored taskbar icon to show the average progress of your clients:
< 50%
50% - 90%
> 90%
[rate scores] If this option is enabled, Log9x will rate the score of found signals from your topical WU. A little colored dot in front of the signal shows it strength in relation to your previously found signals. The color scheme is the same as in SETI@home-MapView:
Dark green: relatively weak signal
Yellow: middle strength of signal
Red: relatively strong signal
[detect duplicate WUs] This will show a message whenever you get a WU which you already have processed.
[make wallpaper] When SETI@home-MapView is installed, this option will generate a sky map out of the logged data and set it up as the windows wallpaper.
